Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT IS A RECITAL?

A recital is a year-end performance that showcases all of our classes and students. It is a great opportunity for children to perform, gain confidence and have fun!

WHY DO CHILDREN NEED TO HAVE A DRESS REHEARSAL?

It is important for all children to attend the dress rehearsal as this prepares them for the performance. This is the only time children get to practice their dance on the stage which is a different size than our studio spaces. We will go over stage entrances, exits and spacing. It is also our last chance to notice and fix any costume problems that may occur. Performing in front of a large audience can sometimes be overwhelming, it is best for children to know what to expect and be prepared!

DO PARENTS NEED TO PURCHASE TICKETS? WHY?

EVERYONE attending the performance with the exception of children under the age of 2 years old is required to purchase a ticket for the performance. Ticket sales help us cover the cost of the event (rental of performance venue, dressing rooms, staff wages, insurance...). The recital is a big event, one that many children look forward to all year! Please note that all recital tickets are a final sale.

CAN PARENTS STAY BACKSTAGE FOR THE DRESS REHEARSAL AND FOR THE PERFORMANCE?

No. Just like most of our classes, the recital is a drop-off event. Parents are not permitted to stay with their child during the dress rehearsal or the performance. Our teachers and parent volunteers will be the only adults allowed during the dress rehearsal and backstage.

CAN I BE A VOLUNTEER?

We require at least one parent volunteer per group. Volunteers will help manage groups by helping with costume changes, sitting with the groups, helping with snacks and making sure the groups are where they need to be. Volunteers must stay with their group at ALL times and must take care of ALL the children in the group. Volunteers will get to watch the performance for free.

DO I NEED TO BUY A RECITAL COSTUME?

Yes. All children enrolled in our spring term will be required to buy the recital costume. The $75 Costume Fee is included in the cost of enrollement. Children will get to keep their costume after the performance!

WHAT WILL MY CHILD NEED FOR THE RECITAL?

An email will be sent!

WHAT ARE APPROPRIATE SNACKS TO BRING?

Messy snacks such as chocolate, spreads, or berries should be avoided as children will be eating in their costume. All snacks must be NUT FREE as we have some children with severe allergies.
